Decision Making And Critical Analysis

Critical analysis in decision making is used to produce a conclusion that has been reached after careful scrutiny and assessment. It offers thorough study of all the facts involved in a situation in need of a decision, and analysis of the possible outcomes of that decision. It is a highly important tool in successful decision making.

Critical analysis requires rational and logical thinking and requires the ability to ask and answer significant questions that are essential to the decision that needs to be made.

There are several steps that can be taken to include critical analysis in successful decision making.

Analysis to clarify the issue involved in the decision. The first step to making a successful decision is the understanding of why that decision is needed in the first place. Analyzing that need brings depth to the final conclusion.

Analyzing the facts involved in the subject. It is important that all facts are critically analyzed and considered. This knowledge empowers the decision maker or makers to make informed and educated decisions.

Considering the decision options available. Critical Analysis should be applied to compare the possible outcomes of each decision option. Once each decision option has been identified, those involved in the decision making process should apply critical analysis to each possible situation, studying the effects and consequences of all results leading to a decision as to which is the most favorable.

Critical thinking is active not passive, in other words it is about questioning and evaluating, finding connections and making judgments rather than simply accepting the information that we gather. This gives great depth and perspective to the decision making process and adds weight to the final result.
